At Solway, we aim to reduce our overall consumption of water and to teach our students to view water as a valuable resource.
As part of our 2016 building project, our two largest water tanks were upgraded. These water tanks feed the student toilets and staff toilets.
Dual flush toilets have been installed in the student toilet block alongside water efficient taps.
In 2018, Solway Primary School celebrated our ’10 Years of Sustainability’. Students celebrated by dressing in green outfits and giving a gold coin donation to the school. Funds have been raised to purchase a new water tank which will be used for the watering of our Kitchen Garden.
9 Aqua Bubblers have been installed in the school grounds help to save water and run off is able to seep into nearby plant beds.
Good, regular mulching around the school helps to reduce water loss and maintain a healthy soil.
Students complete regular ‘Water Audits’ at Solway Primary School. These audits help our Environment Team and classes focus on specific areas of improvement and work towards a range of water saving goals each year.
